Your Infant's Care Team

Clinical Care Coordinator - 24 hrs/day
Has overall shift management and customer service responsibility. Manages assignments and care activities for the shift.

Respiratory Therapist - 24 hrs/day
Works with all unit staff to provide additional therapies to infants requiring oxygen/respiratory support.

Nursing Director - Monday-Friday - 24 Hour Responsibility
Has overall 24 hour/day responsibility for nursing care standards and staff performance.

Social Worker - Monday-Friday - Day Shift
Provides families with information regarding financial services, community resource and emotional support.

Chaplain Service - 24 hrs/day
Available to families for spiritual care. Chaplain may also assist in obtaining other pastoral care for families.

Volunteer Rocker - Scheduled Days and Evening Hours
Specially trained volunteers who have a schedule to rock infants. They work with staff to identify infants needing the special TLC.

Consultants – Other
Other staff may be requested to assist your infant’s care because of their expertise, e.g. Physical therapy, speech therapy, child life, etc.

Nurse Aide – Day Shift
Assists in the unit. Cleans linens.

Health Unit Coordinator – 24 hrs/day
Works with all staff to process new patient orders and distribute messages to the appropriate staff.

Receptionist/Transcriptionist - Monday-Friday
Works to direct families, provides customer service, provides clerical duties for unit.

RN Caregiver - 24 hrs/day
Assigned nurse for your infant. Provides nursing care for infant per nursing unit standards. Caregiver will be able to give you a nursing report regarding progress of infant.

Case Manager - Monday-Friday - 8am-4:30pm
Works with staff and family to prepare for discharge from the hospital. Assists in the planning of care, works with families, insurance plans and providers.

Nurse Practitioner - 24 hrs/day
Assists in the assessment and management of the infants’ medical care. Can give you an up to date report on plan for medical care and up to date progress.

Neonatologist - 24 hrs/day
Has responsibility for medical management of your infant. He will be able to give you the proposed medical care plan, progress report and probable discharge date. Generally one physician attends at 2 week intervals, with peers taking a night call.

Consultants – Medical
Medical consultants may be requested to assist in your infant’s care because of their expertise in a certain specialty e.g. surgery, genetics.

NICU Nutritionist

Neonatal Transport Team - 24 hrs/day
Includes CNP, RN and Respiratory Care. Utilizes fixed wing helicopter or ground transportation depending on need, distance and the weather.

Pediatric Developmental Specialist - Monday-Friday
Provides assessments and care plan strategies to promote infant development and behavioral organization. Offers positioning aids and environmental modifications as appropriate.

Pediatric Pharmacist - Monday-Friday
Monitors medication therapy, and provides drug information to other members of the health care team and patient's caregivers.

Pediatric Nutritionist - Monday-Friday
Provides ongoing evaluation of nutrition status including intake and growth. Oversees and coordinates nutritional care.

Child Life - Monday-Friday
Provides sibling intervention and support services. Assists medical team with providing developmentally appropriate stimulation to NICU infants. Resource for family members.
