Cylie

Two years ago, as her classmates were picking out back packs and planning their first day of school, Cylie was about to start something much tougher than the fourth grade. Cylie was about to begin a crash course with cancer! "Language" suddenly included words like Osteosarcoma—her type of bone cancer and “Spelling” of words like chemotherapy. Physical Education was replaced with a horribly painful surgery where right femur was removed, replaced with a cadaver bone and with the fibula from her left leg. She eventually learned to walk again and was able to return to the playground with her friends. And when her chemotherapy treatments ended, Cylie was cancer free and everyone rejoiced.

Unfortunately, Cylie’s cancer came back. She’s been through another painful surgery This fight was harder the second time around, not only for Cylie but for her family, classmates and community. However, the Pastian family never backed down, and we are happy to report that Cylie is once again CANCER FREE!
