Responsive Parenting

Responsive Parenting Classes are part of the South Dakota Bright Start Initiative.  These free classes are a six-week series for parents who have children ages birth to three years old.  New classes begin every six weeks and are available in different locations throughout the state.  Responsive Parenting topics include:

  • Encouraging Your Child
  • Parenting is Stressful; So is Growing Up
  • Responding to Your Child's Needs
  • The Parent-Child Dance
  • What and How Your Child Learns
  • Your Unique Child

What and How Your Child Learns

The first three years are critically important to healthy brain development. This class helps parents to develop an understanding and appreciate of the learning needs of infants and toddlers. Parents will also learn about their very important role in providing a learning rich environment.
