Infant Toddler Services

The first three years of a child’s life are extremely important. From brain research, we know that this is a prime time for building a foundation for social, emotional, physical, intellectual and language development. Children learn through relationships therefore, responsive care is vital for future learning.

The Infant/Toddler Program follows the philosophy of the WestEd Program for Infant/Toddler Care which believes that good care for infants and toddlers involves the caregiver being in tune with children's cues and that learning is child-directed, not adult-directed.  The Infant/Toddler Program is committed to improving the quality of care for infants and toddlers in child care.

 

Trainings:

  • Training opportunities for licensed or registered child care providers to meet mandated training requirements.
     
  • Class instructors strive to help caregivers obtain information and confidence in one's ability to provide quality care for children.

Infant Toddler Classes for Child Care Providers

Sanford Children’s CHILD Services offers classes specifically for caregivers of infants and toddlers. Because these stages of life are not like any other, classes are geared toward helping providers understand how to best provide responsive care.
